Hi Everyone,

I’m Ellen Goodey. I live in Stratford, East London. I went to my local nursery, primary and secondary schools. Then I studied performing arts at Newham Sixth Form College and the University of East London. I spend some time working as an office assistant, when I am not involved in performing and training.

I was six years old when I started writing my poetry.
My first poem was called Happy Birthday, which I wrote for my mum. And ever since then, I kept up the poetry and have published a few in various magazines.

I developed my poetry-writing skills into song-writing. This has been a great success, and I have written lots and lots of songs, which I have performed in various venues. And now I have made an album of my own songs, which is called Four O’Clock in the Morning.

I have done a lot of training on inclusion and disability  equality for classroom teachers, teachers of dance, social services and other organisations. I use powerpoint presentations and speak to large audiences.

I have just made a video for a confrerence held by the Cabinet Office about people with learning disabilities getting paid jobs, and you can see my video here.
